Vahan – Issue of Registration
Certificate to Vehicle owner
Introduction :
Registration is necessary for every new vehicle
(Private/Commercial) purchased by a citizen. Data related to the vehicle and
its owner is very much important for traffic control, revenue collection,
enforcement procedures and vehicle crimes. Through Vahan
this data is captured and stored in a secured environment for easy access by
competent authority and certificate is issued to the owner.

District Transport Officer (DTO) of all the districts of
Procedure for availing the
Service
For getting the Registration Certificate (R.C.) the owner should
apply to the concerned District Transport office
with all the necessary documents at the counter assigned for this job. The
information is fed to the computer by the clerk. The Motor Vehicle Inspector(MVI) checks the information with submitted
documents and if everything is correct sends to District Transport Officer
(DTO) for approval. After approval from DTO over the system, the certificate is
printed out in preprinted proforma approved by the
transport department of
Citizen has to apply in the counter for
issue of R.C. at DTO office with all the Land Related Document..
Documents/papers to be taken along
Vehicle purchase documents with engine no., Chasis
No., Model name and specifications, vehicle type, etc. Loan related papers, Whether used for Commercial or Private purpose, Insurance
related documents etc. If the vehicle is for commercial use, papers related to
permits is also needed. No extra fee is charged for computerisation
from public. The already prevailing fee by Govt. of Assam is charged by DTOs. Within one day from date of receipt of the
application the R.C. can be issued.

License is very much necessary for every citizen who drives a
vehicle. Data related to the driver is very
much important for traffic control, accidents and vehicle crimes. Through Sarathi this data is captured and stored in a secured
environment for easy access by competent authority and License is issued
to the owner.

service.
